SUMMER PACKAGE UTSJOKI – TENO

Summer Package Experience one of the most beautiful Finnish national heritage landscapes Teno and Utsjoki river valleys. Get acquainted to the Saame cultures, see the traditional salmon fishing on the Europe’s most productive salmon river and learn how to move a traditional riverboat up the rapids using poles and lines.

1st Day          Ivalo – Utsjoki with the Hotel car. Visit to the Siida Same museum (depending on the flight arrival). Dinner at Hotel Luossajohka. Finnish Sauna on the river shore

2nd Day         Breakfast. Riverboat Poling Training on the River Utsjoki we will also learn how to handle the boat with lines poles when going up the Mantokoski rapid. Lunch at theHotel.  Visit to the Utsjoki Church and the Church village on the Mantojärvi shore. Possibility to purchase local handcrafts. Dinner and sauna at the Hotel.

3rd Day          Breakfast. Boat trip to Teno River’s biggest rapid Alaköngäs. We are going to use a traditional long river boat with a rower and guide which was the most common way of travelling   the river prior the outboard engines and the road. This is an ecologic alternative to fully enjoy the river nature and the breath taking landscapes of the Teno valley.  The camp lunch will be served at the old Välimäki museum mansion.  On the river we are going to have the opportunity to see the traditional salmon catching. Dinner and sauna at the Hotel.

4th Day          Breakfast. The Hotel cab will take us through the beautiful Varanger Peninsula to Norwegian city Berlevåg on the shore of the Arctic Ocean. On the road we are going to have a typical Norwegian lunch. In Berlevåg we are having a two hours boat cruise on the Arctic Ocean. Dinner and sauna at the Hotel

5th Day          Breakfast. Travel to Ivalo airport and visit the Siida Saame museum (if not done on the arrival and depending on the flight departure)
